GENERAL ENGLISH
The General English Course involves approximately 3 hours per day, 5 days a
week, of instruction. This is the School's main course in general English.
Emphasis is placed on all four language skill development areas: listening,
speaking, reading and writing, with a balance of language structure
(grammar) and practical usage.
This course is offered at all levels. It aims to increase learners'
confidence in communicating effectively in English, while ensuring that
classes are fun and interesting as well as educationally stimulating.
IELTS
Wellington Study Centre’s IELTS course is an exam preparation programme
raising awareness of, and providing practice in the International English
Language Testing System (IELTS) exam. Students study in small groups where
they are guided towards improved test-taking strategies. Practice tests
feature regularly throughout the course, as does homework, and the course
aims to increase a candidate's score by a minimum of at least, for example,
0.5 overall in 60 hours of tuition.
The IELTS examination is recognised by British universities and the IELTS
Preparation course can be taken in conjunction with the college’s other
courses.
